LUDACRIS-POLITICS (OBAMA IS HERE)

Here is the Ludacris-Obama freestyle that has all the media a buzzin'!

Lyrics:

I'm back on it like I just signed my record deal
Yeah the best is here, the Bentley Coup paint is dripping wet, it got sex appeal
Never should have hated
You never should've doubted him
With a slot in the president's iPod Obama shattered 'em

Said I handled his biz and I'm one of his favorite rappers
Well give Luda a special pardon if I'm ever in the slammer
Better yet put him in office, make me your vice president
Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant

Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what?
If you said it then you meant it how you want it have a gut!
And all you other politicians trying to hate on my man,
watch us win a majority vote in every state on my man

You can't stop what's bout to happen, we bout to make history
The first black president is destined and it's meant to be
The threats ain't fazing us, the nooses or the jokes
So get off your ass, black people, it's time to get out and vote!

Paint the White House black and I'm sure that's got 'em terrified
McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed
Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped
Ball up all of his speeches and I throw 'em like candy wrap
'cause what you talking I hear nothing even relevant
and you the worst of all 43 presidents

Get out and vote or the end will be near
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!
'cause Obama is here
The world is ready for change because Obama is here!

Back from Corn Country

Hey I'm back! Took almost a week to recoup from an emergency trip to Iowa. After several visits to the Coralville Target with my sister (lots of Swiffer products purchased), a Margarita induced hotel room karaoke session (in a medieval theme hotel no less), a trunk full of pirate booty and various leather goods (no joke), Medicare is now my family's best friend and I am safe and sound in Minneapolis. Gotta tell you, Mamma Mia helped me recoup. So did the tip from
David Holl about El Guincho. I will post a little more in the morning, but here a video from his fantastic album Alegranza:

And here he is with Architecture in Helsinki:

Oh...My...Goth!

Hey Jackass, like raunchy, rude, rock 'n' roll bone-bending stunts and gag-inducing challenges performed to the gnarliest of degree...seen it all before? Not with hot punk Rrriot Grrrls as the players. They truly tread water (also snot, puke and a myriad of bodily fluids) in an ocean of retarded sexuality, but that's just nit picking isn't it? Check out "Rad Girls" on FUSE network, you won't be sorry -- or will you? Either way you can't help but watch. Above is the most safe for work sample I could find. Love you Ramona, Clemmie, Munch!

It must be Pop Music Day on 10K Beats

OH NO! My absolute favorite MTV reality star/boy-bander/flat iron owner Ashley Parker Angel and his model/finance/baby mama, Tiffany Lynn called off their engagement! Shuttle to the 5:45 min mark - barf.
Ashley's rep told Us Weekly, "The two remain close friends as they raise their two-year old son Lyric together."

Glen Hansard's cover of "Cry Me A River"

OMFG! Breaking News!

Madonna is attempting to create the perfect pop trifecta of ALL TIME!!! Britney and Justin on stage - AT THE SAME TIME - with her in Miami during her final performance of the Sticky & Sweet tour. A source at the Sun reports, “Madonna is always trying to raise the bar and Britney and Timberlake on the same stage would be perfect. They have both been asked but I think both are a bit reluctant. Britney would find it all a bit emotional and JT might not fancy it."

Justin, if you are reading this, plleeeeaaaasseeeee request to perform this one together:

RADIOHEAD HOUSE OF CARDS

Radiohead have done it again with a groundbreaking new music video. The band decided to forgo the use of cameras for their latest single, House of Cards. Using 3D video acquisition systems from Geometric Informatics, and 64-element, 360-degree LIDAR from Velodyne, the band was able to create a clip that eschews traditional video recording for haunting, complex data visualizations.

Check out the making of the video!

How cute is this!!??

Even if you are so totally over this song, you got to admit, it's pretty cute:

Who doesn't like watermelon!?

According to a source at Britain's Daily Mirror, Jay-Z requested a watermelon sculpture of Beyonce's... ahem... melons at an expensive Nigerian Resort. Hov helped Rihanna with Umbrella (pictured) before performing Crazy In Love with Lady B at the Africa Rising Concert in Abuja this weekend. The Daily Mirror reports, "One giant watermelon was split in two and ornately carved into a mould of Beyonce's boobs. Two cherries were used as nipples."

Hope for the day yet

The Zombies' Care of Cell 44 always makes me feel better when I am having a bad morning. Something about the way Colin Blunstone sings, "We'll get to know each other for a second time" is so hopeful and assuring. Since I locked myself out, spilled coffee on my shirt, missed my bus AND left my iron on, I've listened to it a few times this morning. Enjoy.

Durrty South Revisited

Got an awesome mix tape today from DavidFourEyes - Lil Jon, Lil Wayne, UGK, Bubba Sparxx, some Three 6 Mafia, I think a little Cassidy - made me think of other Southern bangers I find pretty awesome.

This song always always makes me laugh:

I quote this one on a daily basis (lame clean version):

And while this doesn't evoke the same image of sizzurp sippin, I can't forget my boys from Virginia Beach:

International Day on 10000 Beats

I saw Mongol with my mom last night. While it presented a story that was a little simplified, it was great to watch the landscape, hear the language, and the clothes! Oh the clothes! I'm a total sucker for anything "ethnic" looking - especially things that would make me look like a total idiot. I finally retired my Mexican peasant shirt after it was referred to as a "deal breaker." Sigh. Someday, I will go to Ghana and have my own kente woven and will be able to die a happy woman. Back on topic, there was a lot of throat singing in the movie and it made me wonder what modern Mongolian music sounds like? Well folks, I give you Tatar:

A You Tube commenter translated the song as such: "this song means - one boy loves his classmate /girl/ but she dumped him and so he become .... really bad person, he was good boy, cares his parents... everything because of that girl. this song wants to tell us about love and if someone loves u, mayebe u should think about it and respect him/his love..."

Can't tell what I like best. The throat singing...

Or the hip hop? One thing I do know is that T-Pain should pay special attention to the latter - maybe he could learn how not to use that vocoder so much...

And then they'll say, "good luck"

While this is certainly not my favorite Dylan, Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35 is absolutely appropriate. This one's for you, Dicky. You know I have been there.

Happy Birthday to me

Tomorrow is my birthday and I couldn't have wished for a better early birthday present than this little jem I found on YouTube:

Pretty sure this was an episode where the West Bev kids get over their initial prejudice of South Central and attend a school dance where all are brought together by the freestylin' of one David Silver. What I like most about this clip is if you break up the line dance step by step, Brenda, Kelly and especially Donna's moves are that of dear M.I.A. I spent this spring trying to dance like her, little did I know I could have just watched 90210.

99 Problems and Noel Gallagher ain't one

When I almost interviewed Dizzee Rascal in April, I was going to ask him about his grumbling over Jay-Z's headlining Glastonbury Festival. He was concerned with his crossover ability - as if he should be talking about that! Anyway, Diz wasn't the only one irritated at Hov headlining the predominantly Rock festival. Noel Gallagher in 100% pure Oasis pissy form, blamed Jay's spot on the bill for the festival's slow ticket sales and as quoted in Spin, "If you break it, people ain't gonna go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? ... No chance, I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. No way. No. It's wrong." Too bad for Noel, he seriously underestimated Mr. Carter's chutzpah, who came out this weekend on the Glasto main stage with an electric guitar and sang over Oasis' Wonderwall before slamming right into 99 Problems. The man understands his audience - he also put his spin on Rehab while rapping in front of a projection of Damien Hirst's famous skull.

Revisting Night Ripper

I have been listening to the last Girl Talk album this afternoon and in the past five minutes I have been bopping my head to The Pixies, Luda, Yin Yang Twins, Weezer, Biggie Smalls, Neutral Milk Hotel and the OC theme song. My favorite songs + my guilty pleasures = Night Ripper. If you haven't read Nick's post about the new album, Feed the Animals, read it here & download that shit! Imma take a listen now....

In case you missed it...

Here is Eugene Hutz singing "Soul Warrior" from his tour bus on June 12. That's me in the corner, red as a lobster. Here is a link to my post about sitting on his bus.
